Acupuncture is a collection of procedures involving skin penetration with needles to stimulate certain points on the body and has been practiced for thousands of years in the Far East. It is a classical component of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and has been defined as a complementary health alternative. By stimulating specific acupuncture points, imbalances in the flow of energy, (Qi, pronounced Chi), can be corrected through channels known as meridians.
When the flow of Qi is impaired through the body an imbalance occurs resulting in illness and by inserting fine needles at various points on the meridian, the Qi can be redirected to where it is needed most, so the body’s balance can be restored and the illness resolved.
